My short term secret is out!

Well, I have not been able to blog much because I have been going through a lot of changes that I was unable to share until I knew they were certain. I was accepted into a program called the Interim Manager Program with CFA. The way this works is that I am on call to go run a store temporarily off and on for the next couple of years. If I do a good job where I am called then I will possibly get my own store at some point. I have been to Atlanta for training and am now certified to go run a store. I was able to share this with my church the other day and I feel like a load has been lifted off of me. I will be pursuing this full time in January. Its nice to get things out and be able to tell everyone the truth about where God is leading you. A few months ago I was wrestling with whether God would call me to ministry outside the church walls and now I know he has. I prayed back then that if this was God's will He would have to open the doors and then I would walk through them. He did! I got in a program in 7 months that it usually takes years to get in. I knew that God's hand was and still is in this. I was amazed at how he pieced everything together to show me the path he wants me to take at this point in my life. God is amazing and I am very unworthy for Him to use me for anything, but I am glad he wants to. Please also be in prayer for my father who is in ICU in Atlanta. The doctors are still trying to figure out what is wrong with him and he has been in a drug induced coma for over 2 weeks now. I'm back and can share so check back soon.

Quick Update....

Alright I said I would do better at blogging and now I mean it so I am saying it again. I have been out of town for almost the last 2 weeks. I took our youth group on a mission trip to Biloxi, MS and a lot of people down there are still in FEMA trailers. Please be in prayer for the hurricane victims. Can you imagine 2 years later and still no house? One lady we talked to and helped out is still going back and forth with her insurance company about whether it is wind or water damage. I mean come on, it was a hurricane! All of her work so far has been done by volunteers. Well, a couple of our youth that went want me to start giving them devotions on a regular basis like I did on the mission trip so that is awesome! Please pray for our youth group I see some of them wanting to grow spiritually and that is incredible! Well, we got back Sunday night (we drove) and I had to be at the Denver airport by 5am on Monday to fly to Atlanta for a conference for Chickfila. It was actually cool and God showed me a lot through that as well. I will share that later. If you stumbled on this and are shocked that I posted, check back because I will be posting again soon and I mean it! Later and God bless.

Hospitalized!

Hey, well this time I have somewhat of a legit excuse for not blogging for a while. I am going to be consistent at least weekly from here on out, believe it or not. Back to my setback, I had to have emergency surgery and was in the hospital all of last week. I will be ok but I am recovering. What was supposed to be a simple surgery ended up being more complicated. I had a lot of friends and family who supported me though and I appreciate all the thoughts and prayers. I will right again next week hopefully not under the influence of pain killers. Hope you are all doing well.

Sorry!

Once again, I need to apologize for slacking on my blog. I have finished school now for the semester but I have been nonstop since. Well, everything is pretty good for now. We are heading to Atlanta, GA and Greenville, SC to see family and Jen's sister graduate for the next week. I am pretty pumped! Well, I will do better on this when I return and I have a lot more to share which will be coming in a week or so. I just turned the big 30 so pray for my depression (just playing). I am learning a lot of Spanish lately due to my latest job. The rest of my update will be coming soon. Peace out and God bless.

One more week!

Well, just one more week of this semester of seminary! That means a break for me! I will still have my two jobs, but this will be a nice break from seminary. I'm not complaining, a lot of people are busier than I am, its just nice to have a little break. Well, hopefully starting next week I will be blogging more often and letting you know what all God is showing me and not showing me in my life. I have two finals this week so I will be back in a few days. Later.

Fire and Reign and a busy week ahead......

Well, our church just started a new campaign in which we will be going through the first few chapters of Acts. The campaign is called Fire and Reign. Hopefully it will help our church and youth group get fired up to make a bigger impact on our community in the near future. Also, I have a busy week coming up with a major paper due for seminary in addition to my two jobs. I could use all the prayers I can get! Also, let me pray for you if you don't mind sending me some of your request. It is the least I can do for anyone who checks my blog. Have a great week and God bless.

What is God trying to tell me?

Well, as a lot of you know, I have been thinking that God wants me to start a church one day. Well now that I am doing a night mangager job at chickfila a whole new future possibility has opened up to me. The owner of the store thinks I would make a great owner of a chickfila someday as well if I felt like that was something God wanted me to do. Okay, at first I thought, "this is crazy God wants me to start a church", then I started really being convicted about how there is just a shortage of Christian business men in the world. If I decided to pursue this one day, I could still and would be encouraged to speak, preach, and do ministry on a volunteer basis so that would never be completely out of my life. A seminary degree if I finish would also be looked highly upon because the company is Christian owned and run. These are all the thoughts that have me considering or at the very least praying about this possible new opportunity. Could I have a bigger impact on the lost community by owning a business than I could one day starting a church? I honestly don't know. I know I am not the most gifted communicator, but that is something I never want to quit completely. Please pray for me as I am trying to figure out exactly what God wants to do with me. Continue to pray for my wife as well. I am going to try to start blogging more. Please check back and God bless. Let me know how I can pray for you as well.

In Him,

Been busy, Happy Easter!

Well, sorry I have not been consistent with this blog. I do still intend to be. I have started a new job in the last week and I am training to be a night manager at Chickfila. This will be in addition to my youth pastor job and trying to get my masters degree. Luckily both jobs are part time though, so I'm not complaining. I just have not had much free time lately or time to blog. Well, I will be writing again soon. Please pray for my new job as well as my other responsibilities. My wife is still wanting to go to days so please pray for that as well. Happy Easter everyone and take some time out to contemplate on the the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. I can and will change you life. Let me know how I can pray for you as well. Later and God bless.

Peace,

Chad

My team already lost!

I am kind of in shock. Ga. Tech showed promise toward the end of the season but lost the first game in both the ACC tournament and the NCAA tournament. I even prayed! I did but I know people are praying on both sides. Part of not being a fair weathered fan is supporting them regardless. You know it kind of goes a long the same lines of our relationships with God. Whether life is going our way or not we still need to keep our faith in God. The difference between sports and God is that we know one day he will have the victory forever. This is just what was on my mind today. If you are not a sports person, I am talking about college basketball. Be praying for my wife cause she is having a tough time working night shift. She wants to go to days and we need prayer for that to happen. Well, thanks for reading. Later.

My Stupid Mouth...

I figured this title would catch your attention. I was heading up to the mountains last Friday to snowboard with my wife for the day (she was already up there for a couple of days with some friends). Anyway, on the way up I was listening to my ipod and the song "My Stupid Mouth" came on by John Mayer. There is a lot of spiritual truth to the title and the song whether he meant there to be or not. Honestly, this is one of my struggles. I am a very opinionated person who can talk a lot and my mouth can get me in trouble. This is an area I want to improve on in my life. I want to be a better listener and I want to think about what I say before I let words fly. The bible is clear that we are to be slow to speak and quick to listen. As I have mentioned before I want to be a pastor one day and I have to improve this area to be the kind of pastor God would want me to be. All prayers are welcomed and appreciated. Well, thanks for checking in on my blog and I hope and pray all is well with you. I hope to write again soon so check back. Later.

Update:

Well, I have a test and a midterm due next weekend for seminary so I am taking a study break to write a little update. I needed to unwind before diving into a deeper study mode, so I went snowboarding with a friend yesterday. The wind was rough so we left early. It's all good though, because the conditions out here in Colorado are usually pretty awesome. I love hitting the mountains out here because the view from the top is always breathtaking. It is a constant reminder of how awesome and huge God is! On another note, I saw on Seth's blog today a link to what is currently going on in South Florida. This is extremely disturbing. Check out the story here. I hope to write more soon. Later.

Happy Seth?

Well, Seth Dean, my cousin and good friend encouraged me to start blogging, so here I am. I have good intentions of making this a blog worth reading. Right now I am working as a youth pastor in Denver Colorado while trying to finish seminary (@ 2 years left!). Well, I am busy right now but I will write more when I have time. By the way, I have a wonderful wife (Jen) who is a nurse and a great dog (Sophie) who is a miniature dachshund. Here you go Seth and I will do my best to make this good. Check out seth's blog at www.sethdean.com.
